Is Starfield the new freelancer?

Starfield on Steam

If you're a fan of space exploration games, you might be wondering: will Starfield be the successor to Freelancer? Freelancer was a classic game released in 2003 that let you explore a vast open galaxy, trade with different factions, customize your ship and engage in epic battles. Starfield is an upcoming game from Bethesda Softworks that promises to deliver a similar experience, but with modern graphics, gameplay and storytelling.

Starfield is one of the most anticipated games of 2023. It's been in development for over a decade and it's Bethesda's first new IP in 25 years. The game is set in the 23rd century and it will allow you to create your own character and embark on a journey across the stars. You'll be able to visit different planets, discover alien civilizations, join factions, fight enemies and shape your own destiny.

But how will Starfield compare to Freelancer? Well, we don't know much about Starfield yet, but based on what we've seen so far, it seems like it will have some similarities and some differences with Freelancer. Here are some of them:

- Starfield is more story-driven than Freelancer. It will have a main quest line that will take you through an epic sci-fi adventure with branching paths and multiple endings.
- Starfield is more diverse than Freelancer. It will feature hundreds of planets with different biomes, cultures and wildlife.
- Starfield is more ambitious than Freelancer. It will use Bethesda's new Creation Engine 2 that will enable stunning graphics, animations and performance.

Starfield Customization

So, will Starfield be the successor to Freelancer? Well, it depends on what you're looking for in a space game. If you want a more realistic, immersive and cinematic experience, then Starfield might be for you. If you want a more arcade-like, fast-paced and casual experience, then Freelancer might be more your style.

Either way, both games are amazing examples of what can be achieved in the genre of space exploration games. And we can't wait to experience Starfield on The 6th September 2023.
