ASUS ROG Ally vs. Steam Deck: Is the Gaming Handheld worth the Extra ?
Leaked Price Reveals Potential Showdown Between ASUS ROG Ally and Steam Deck, Which Will Come Out on Top.
ASUS has been gradually releasing information about the ROG Ally over the past few weeks. However, recent leaks have provided a fresh wave of information about the upcoming handheld gaming console. According to reports from various sources, including SnoopyTech, Khumail Thakur, and The Verge, the high-end ROG Ally model will be priced at $699.99. This version of the console will feature a Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and 512GB of storage.
The Verge spoke to gadget leaker Roland Quandt, who confirmed that the leaked information was accurate. Until now, the biggest question surrounding the ROG Ally was its price point. Would ASUS try to undercut the Steam Deck or charge a premium price for its high-end device?
If the leaked reports are true, it seems that ASUS is going head-to-head with Valve. The $699.99 price tag puts the ROG Ally just $51 above the Steam Deck's highest-end model. There is no information yet about the pricing for the entry-level models of the ROG Ally. However, ASUS may choose to continue with aggressive pricing and offer a lower-priced option that is closer in cost to the most affordable Steam Deck ($400).
While the specifications and pricing for the ROG Ally are promising, it remains to be seen how the device will perform in real-world situations. ASUS has boasted of 8.6 teraflops of power, but it's unclear how the console will handle demanding PC games. We will have to wait until the device is released and reviewed before making any definitive conclusions.
ASUS plans to officially announce the price of the ROG Ally at an event scheduled for May 11, 2023.
