After days of rumors and speculation, According to Insider Gaming confirms that Sony is developing a new PlayStation handheld, codenamed the Q Lite. This new device is designed to work alongside the PlayStation 5 console, using Remote Play technology to stream games directly to the handheld.
According to Insider Gaming The Q Lite will offer adaptive streaming up to 1080p and 60FPS, ensuring a smooth and high-quality gaming experience for players. However, this will require constant internet connectivity to work properly.
Early prototypes of the Q Lite reveal that it will look similar to the PlayStation 5 controller, but with a large 8-inch LCD touchscreen in the center. The device will also include features such as volume buttons, speakers, and an audio input jack, making it a fully functional handheld console.
They have also learned that the Q Lite is currently in its QA phase and is scheduled for release before the PlayStation 5 Pro
This new handheld is part of Sony's plans for the "second phase of the PS5", as revealed by industry insider Jeff Grubb. This second phase includes new game releases as well as several new hardware offerings, such as the detachable disc drive PlayStation 5, Project Nomad (wireless earphones), and Project Voyager (wireless headset).
