Activision Received Information About Nintendo's Switch 2 in 2022
In recent months, speculations about the emergence of a Nintendo Switch 2 have circulated, and we now have confirmation that Activision was privy to information about the next-generation Switch in the previous year, as disclosed in internal emails during the FTC v. Microsoft case.
During December of 2022, Activision Blizzard's CEO, Bobby Kotick, along with other high-ranking company officials, convened with Nintendo's executives to engage in discussions regarding the forthcoming iteration of the Switch.
The available documentation, albeit heavily censored, does reveal that the performance of the Switch 2 will closely resemble that of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The document includes a passage stating, "Considering the heightened similarity in performance to the Gen8 platforms and our prior offerings on the PS4 and Xbox One, it is logical to infer that we could create compelling content for the upcoming Switch generation. It would be advantageous to secure early access to developmental hardware prototypes to validate this concept expeditiously."
Kotick recently expressed remorse, admitting that it was an ill-advised decision not to release Call of Duty on the Switch, and he acknowledged that the company should have shown more support for the platform.
